Born Anxious is a homegrown clothing label with two objectives, to make the clothes as comfortable as possible, whilst also remaining planet friendly, and to hold important information that will aim to help not only the child, but also the caregiver as well when required. As an autism mum myself, I have thought about what could help me and other caregivers whilst trying to be as generic as possible within the designs, alongside giving those the opportunity to personalise their products as well.

It’s good to escape home sometimes

It’s good to escape home sometimes

For  a child who loves the protection of  home, routine, structure it’s so weird how oscars absolutely favourite thing is road trips! We pack to plan we prep then we take a family trip , always at Christmas last year Center parcs , this year Disney only 3 days we take enough for a week which is a running joke really ,but I would rather have oscars comforts with him just incase he needs them , I thinks that’s part of the success really of our trips he has us on tap and his travel cot which he loves and we take all his bedding , books, and things from home that make him feel calmer.

The beauty of trips is , it’s just us we dont know anyone it’s just our unit and we can shut the world out, and spend time together and keep moving which is vital for Oscar move on and change the scenery often helps his mood and anxiety  , Oscar tends to get on better this way I hope it stays his easy to travel with him as he gets older .

oscar is obsessed with the atlas , animals anything geography really I hope he continues this way he loves learning about the world and nature .

Even when we are at a theme park Oscar finds nature, he will drag you to the back of the park to explore the hedges or bushes and likes to touch them and play with the leaves it grounds him , when we are at home if his anxiety is getting the better of him I take him to the woods or the water this usually works and it’s something thst he has transferred when we travel , which is super clever I think and just proves he is starting to have a better idea of what works for him , in order to regulate I hope this is a skill he builds on as we work so hard to keep him in the right state of calm, but  if he could develop some skills himself and know I’m not ok but it’s going to be ok ,  it could open up a whole new world for him 💙
