Could we be building on tolerances?
We have recently taken a trip it felt easier than usual, only one real loose it getting in the slinky dog ride, in zero temperatures and Oscar slapped me so hard around the face!!! and where it was so cold I had a handprint for ages and it stung so bad that was the only time , with the exception of the killer slap which was him saying no basically , he’s been great he’s walked loads ,not running actually walking holding hands , I still use a safety rein, because my deepest fear is him getting lost, and he can be unpredictable in crowds and has no sense of direction , he has walked so beautifully holding my hand or his siblings , he waited patiently to go on rides , he had a disability pass but the wait still can be ten minutes depending on the que , it’s so easy with the pass it really helps , Oscar loves the it’s a small world ride and buzz lightyear ,which very cleverly has a shop at the exit so there’s literally no escape , Oscar chose two cuddly toys which he threw at the man behind the till over the counter to pay for them , which to the outside eye looks rude, but I was actually really proud of him as he showed understanding thst he had to pay for them and the man would give them back so he was able to wait and accepted that, that’s huge I feel .🎉
There’s a few pretty huge things Oscar has done this trip ,he stood and waited for a parade on his safety rein and enjoyed the parade , he even threw a few dance moves while he waited , the comparison is the last visit which was only August he attempted to join the parade in the road and really kicked off when he was stopped , another progress while being away was changing he’s been very willing for changing and has stood beautifully for this, this has previously been a real struggle for me with him as there usually cold and not that clean, so to have your child throwing themselves all over the floor wasn’t ideal , another development was characters, with his disability pass if he wants to meet a character you show your pass and go back at the given time , Oscar loves Jessey from toy story ,so we booked him to meet her then went to play in the playground , when his turn came he was a bit anti but they allowed time to let him get used to the idea, and he stood starring at her for ages staring at her he slowly accepted her hand then stood staring up close, he finally went in for a big hug , which was totally unprompted, which was lovely as it was his little personality coming through, there’s been a little few times now this break he has done that, dancing when he hears the music or skipping along , and kissing people and hugging it’s all very encouraging .🌈
so a sucessful short trip , our mountain may be getting bigger but our hurdles smaller for now anyway huge strides forward , I wasn’t sure for ages but I think my son does like me after all😂 and it’s the first time I haven’t had anyone staring at us maybe I just stopped noticing or caring but it feels good .🙏
ive added this link as there’s so much assistance and help at places like Disney and many theme parks in the uk also , always get advise about help available prior to travel it really makes a difference 👌
I think jessey might have been getting the psycho vibes😂he was staring at her like this for over 5 minutes!
